Unlocking
PFO Detection with Brain Science
dedicated to the identification and management of
Patent Foramen Ovale (PFO), i.e., a 'Hole in the Heart'
About Us
The Whole Hearts Foundation is an innovative, charitable healthcare organization deeply dedicated to making a significant impact in the world of cardiovascular medicine, particularly focusing on the identification and management of Patent Foramen Ovale (PFO). Established with a mission to detect undiagnosed PFO across all ages and demographics, we pride ourselves on creating an inclusive and comprehensive approach to patient care and health education.
Our Foundation employs the power of artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics, revolutionizing the way PFO is diagnosed and handled. We utilize advanced, non-invasive AI-assisted robotic cranial ultrasound technology for industry leading detection, rendering an impressive degree of efficiency and precision. This technology not only allows for a comprehensive diagnosis, but it also eliminates patient discomfort and significantly reduces the time spent on diagnosis, thus offering faster access to necessary medical treatment and interventions.
Our Approach
With a strong commitment to charity, we believe that equitable access to healthcare is a fundamental human right. Consequently, we facilitate state-of-the-art services at minimal to no cost for individuals who cannot afford conventional healthcare. By providing access to necessary medical procedures, we aim to eliminate socio-economic barriers to health and work towards a healthier society.
Our Foundation not only stands as a beacon of hope for those suffering silently with undiagnosed PFO, but also serves as a powerful advocate for cardiovascular health awareness. We engage in numerous outreach programs, educating communities about the importance of early diagnosis and prevention of PFO-related health risks.
Our Mission
As we evolve, we remain firm in our commitment to spearheading advancements in PFO diagnosis, fostering a future where every individual, regardless of age, gender, or socio-economic status, has access to precise, effective, and compassionate healthcare services. We are the Whole Hearts Foundation – transforming lives, one heart at a time.
About PFO
Patent foramen ovale (PFO),commonly known as "a hole in the heart," is a small opening in the septum, which is the wall that separates the heart's two upper chambers (atria). PFO is a common birth defect that affects about 25% of adults.
In most cases, PFO closes on its own shortly after birth. However, in some cases, the hole remains open. This can cause blood to flow from the right atrium to the left atrium, which can increase the risk of stroke. This is because blood clots that form in the right atrium can travel through the PFO and block an artery in the brain.
If you have a PFO, your doctor may recommend treatment if you have a higher risk of stroke. Treatment options include medication, surgery, or closure using a catheter.
PFO Explained
A foramen ovale is a small hole in the heart that naturally exists in babies who are still in the womb. Shortly after birth, the foramen ovale should close. In the event it does not close, a condition called patent foramen ovale or PFO occurs. Although the majority of patients with this condition do not have any symptoms, PFO may cause migraine headaches and increase the risk of stroke and heart attack. PFO closure is a minimally invasive procedure to fix this hole in the heart.
